What is Be Newquay Festival?

The festival is a month-long celebration of Newquay’s creative spirit, serving up a  season of events, activities and workshops every weekend throughout November. The programme presents a wide variety of opportunities to engage, enjoy and excite and is has been co-created with partners, venues, organisations and businesses across the town.

When is it happening?

The activities have been programmed for the five weekends across November and take place during the daytime and evening. Take a look at the events listings to start planning your month and make sure you don’t miss out on the incredible programme! Please also note, there are a handful of events that take place in between these weekends. 

Who is it for?

The festival is for YOU! The programme has been carefully programmed so that there is something for everyone – whether you live in Newquay, you are coming to stay or you are just visiting for the day. There are events and activities for all ages and interests – whether you want to learn something new, make something to take home, try a new experience or simply book tickets to watch a show.

Where is it happening?

The festival is all over the town! Unlike a single-venue event, the activities throughout November are animating Newquay in a wide variety of spaces and places in the town centre. From nightclubs to halls, beaches to streets, museums to pubs – Be Newquay Festival is popping up somewhere near you, in places you might expect as well as spaces that might surprise you!  Here’s a list of some of the main town venues:

How much does it cost?

Be Newquay Festival has been designed to be a low-cost and easily accessible programme for all to enjoy. Many activities and events are free or heavily subsidised. Don’t miss out on a month-long calendar of great-value experiences and opportunities. A chance to be entertained, engaged and inspired… without breaking the bank!

How to book?

The full event programme is digital and can be found here. Events are listed in date order and powered by Cornwall 365 booking office (festival partners). Use the filter, to discover events by type, date or weekend highlight. Click on individual events for the full information. It will take you to our festival partner, Cornwall 365 booking office. Many of the activities require booking in advance (even if free), so make sure you book to secure your space and avoid disappointment.

In the event of a cancellation (beyond the organisers control i.e. weather), updates will be given via socials @BeNewquayFestival @Benewquay_festival.

Who are the festival organisers?

Be Newquay Festival is brought to you by Cornwall Council project ‘Experience Newquay’ in collaboration with local project partners Visit Newquay and Love Newquay. Experience Newquay is a two-year project (due to run until March 2025) from Cornwall Council and funded by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme. The project aims to encourage a resilient year-round visitor economy, put a spotlight on the low season and embrace Newquay’s unique identity. Designed to attract an even flow of local and national visitors who sustainably engage with the town throughout the year.

What organisations are involved in the programme?

The festival programme has been curated in collaboration with some fantastic local organisations, each offering a unique array of activities on dedicated weekends. Every weekend, a different organisation will take the spotlight with the weekend highlights, supported by a variety of activities and events from other local businesses. This approach ensures a rich and varied programme that truly reflects the unique identity of Newquay.

How do I get there?

We encourage you to walk, cycle, or take public transport to our events. Great Western Railway (GWR) operate train services right into the heart of Newquay. Either high speed train services from London Paddington station including the Night Riviera Sleeper service as well as local services throughout Cornwall. Trains run throughout the day from Par into the heart of Newquay. Book your tickets now at GWR.com, on the app or at a station. There are track upgrades linked to train service improvements affecting trains for Newquay from Mon 18 Nov – Sun 1 Dec. Replacement buses are planned between St Austell and Newquay. Find out more here.

What is the Be Newquay Guide?

The Be Newquay Festival takes inspiration from the Be Newquay Guide and the festival programme celebrates what it means to Be Newquay. Co-created by the local community, the guide features five positive actions to help protect our town. By enjoying the festival and its events, you’ll naturally embrace these actions. How is the festival funded?

The project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
